Nytol is used for temporary difficulties in getting a good night's sleep: Temporary difficulties in getting a good night's sleep can be caused by various problems such as stress, jet lag or bereavement. In sleep problems of this type, compared to placebo, Nytol has been shown to help sufferers to fall asleep faster, have a longer and deeper sleep, and awake feeling rested in the morning. Nytol is an antihistamine which causes sleepiness or drowsiness and is used to help relieve temporary sleeping difficulties. Clinically proven night time sleep aid Easy to swallow Directions How to use Nytol: Nytol is not recommended for children under 16 years of age Nytol is not recommended if you are pregnant or breast-feeding a baby Nytol: Swallow two caplets with water 20 minutes before going to bed. Taking the caplets in this way will help you to fall asleep once you are in bed. Nytol One-A-Night: Swallow one caplet with water 20 minutes before going to bed. Taking the caplet in this way will help you to fall asleep once you are in bed. Do not take more than the recommended dose and do not take extra Nytol caplets if you wake up in the night. Please note that if your sleeping difficulties last for more than two weeks, you should consult your doctor. Contents Each Nytol caplet contains: 25mg of the active ingredient Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride BP. Each Nytol One-A-Night caplet contains: 50mg of the active ingredient Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride BP. Both the Nytol caplets and the Nytol One-A-Night caplets also contain: Anhydrous Lactose, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Maize Starch, Stearic Acid and Silicon Dioxide. Warnings Before taking Nytol: Do not take if you have had an allergic reaction to Diphenhydramine in the past Do not take if you have asthma, narrow angle glaucoma (a form of raised pressure in the eye), gastric or intestinal obstruction (due to peptic ulcer or other causes), enlargement of the prostate or bladder neck obstruction. Nytol is not recommended for children under 16 years of age Nytol is not recommended if you are pregnant or breast-feeding a baby If you are taking antidepressants or have myasthenia gravis, please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Nytol. Nytol should be used with caution in patients with seizure disorders. The effectiveness of Nytol may reduce with continuous use. Nytol is intended to produce drowsiness or sleepiness soon after the dose has been taken, therefore you should not drive or operate machinery. Avoid alcoholic drink whilst using Nytol Side-effects: After taking Nytol you may experience dizziness, drowsiness, grogginess, nervousness, nausea or a dry mouth. These effects are uncommon but mild and will wear off within about eight hours of taking Nytol. Antihistamines have been reported rarely to cause abnormal bleeding or bruising (due to a decrease in the number of platelets in the blood). Please tell your pharmacist or doctor if you notice this or any of the above and / or any other unwanted effects. If Nytol overdose is suspected, please contact your doctor or casualty department.
